Organic

I watched a documentary called "the future of food." The only word to describe this movie is unnerving. It covered the Bioegineering of agriculture and the patents of life. it disgusts me to think that a corporation can own a life form and in turn sue anyone that happens to have possession of it. Whether that person wants the life form or not, the company can file a suit. It makes real an issue that is all to much overshadowed by "here and now" issues such as catastrophes and wars. issues that effect the future of our world are totally forgotten and then when brought up, dismissed as extremist. Even the woman who gave me this documentary is insulted openly for her passion of organic and naturally grown foods. How sad that we mock what little good that is left among us. We are mocking our world to destruction because of our insecurities. These biologically engineered plants can cause birth defects and legions in lab rats WHEN TESTED. the problem with this issue is that there is no regulation on these plants. And even of they are banned for human consumption they can be found in shipments containing supposedly non-b.e. produce. We as consumers still have the power to end globalization. the only power that these giant corporations hol over us is ignorance. this is our food. our fuel. it is what we put into our bodies that should matter most to us, or at least be high on the list. But the very fact that AM PM sells gallon sodas shows that we have no regard for our own health or the destruction of our planet. Ecosystems and entire plants have become extinct because of this new science. Homogoneous supermarkets are rampant and have become the norm for the american shopper. What else is there after all. some where along fighting for freedom we stupidly gave up freedoms so important. We need to stop subsidizing crops which only encourages farmers to continue this path of agriculture. In short, support your local farmers and buy organic foods from a farmers market. most of the time though, it seems it would be better that mankind would destroy itself with its genious creations that way, if anyone does survive the stupidity of this age, they can remember what not to do. for millions of years these plants have been evolving and perfecting themselves, how arrogant are we to think can build upon natures creations in a few decades. i'm revolted. it sparks a change of lifestyle. i hope that we can wake up. i hope that we can change. but i mostly, i know we won't. because we can't. and that, is human nature. why does eating healthy food cause sneers from neighbors, why does a car look more enviting than a bicylce. why does the best decision scare so many people?

it makes me think how long have i been putting these poisons into my body. i hate the mindset that has corrupted so many in this nation. we are stagnate water, a pendulum without sway that rests idly in passiveness and ignorance. we forget our place. we forget our role. i'm so pissed off. screw safeway, screw walmart, screw the corparate giants, screw the businesses that screw the people, and screw me if i don't use this anger to change myself and fight my way out of this rut. amen.
